Ireland Wedding Venues

2024 by This Modern Love

2024 was our fourteenth year photographing weddings. What a journey!

Some things have changed over the years. We travel less these days, preferring to be close to home. We find ourselves taking less 'big' portrait shots, instead honing in on the small details and bonds between people. We've found an increasing number of couples request little to no portraits on the day, and we've really embraced that, leaning into the documentary photography - which was always our first love.

We've dusted off our beloved film cameras, and have enjoyed the occasional double exposures and the timeless texture that these photographs give people. We've had even more babies and children as part of our families getting married this year, and this has both melted our hearts and provided a lot of comedy.

The work continues to bring us immense joy. Each year is guaranteed to have moments when the tears are tripping our faces with laughter. This year, the practical joke with the forgotten wedding ring magically delivered by an alpaca springs to mind! We often find ourselves really moved at family's stories and how people navigate their weddings in sometimes tricky circumstances. It continues to be the privilege of our lives that couples trust us to capture their wedding memories.

A huge thank you to all the gorgeous people we've worked with in 2024. To our fantastic wedding industry friends and collaborators. And to all of you, couples past, present and future, friends and strangers, for your support and love.

Happy new year everyone x

Déirdre & Steve / Ballintubbert House Wedding by This Modern Love

Déirdre and Steve’s Wedding at Ballintubbert House

Déirdre and Steve had the most amazing festival style wedding. It was a totally original day, centred around their personalities. And a rainy one! But nobody freaked out about, despite the glamping and planned outdoor ceremony… :)

These are only some of about a million reasons why we loved Déirdre and Steve’s wedding so much. Mostly we loved it because they are the funniest, kindest loveliest people. Will not forget this amazing wedding at Ballintubbert House any time soon.

You can read more about Déirdre and Steve’s story, and see more images of the beautiful details, on One Fab Day.

Jodie & Shane / Wedding at Lisnavagh House by This Modern Love

Jodie & Shane’s Wedding at Lisnavagh House

Loving Jodie and Shane’s Lisnavagh House wedding. Sometimes our brief at weddings is ‘just do your thing’. Other times, people have ideas for photographs - and we are up for anything :) Jodie and Shane fancied some portraits that were classic and still, and we had a great time making these. But the rest of the day was shot in documentary mode as usual. All in all, ridiculously goodly fun. Big thanks to Jodie and Shane for having us.
