Loved every minute of Tabitha and Jon's wedding at Limepark. Effortlessly beautiful, and so full of thought and love. The bried was candid, relaxed, documentary wedding photography on film and digital.
Limepark, out in the Armoy countryside on the Causeway Coast, is one of those venues that makes the job easier. The old stone buildings, the barn, the fields rolling away to Knocklayd. There's a quietness to it that makes people settle in and be present . As a documentary wedding photographer, that's everything.
There was a lot going on beneath the surface of this day. Tabitha's mum Carol, who had been overjoyed when Jon proposed, passed away unexpectedly just months after the engagement. Rather than diminish the celebration, Tabitha and Jon found the most beautiful ways to carry her through it. The ceremony arch - mountain-shaped and built by Tabitha's dad - had a photo of her at its heart. On the pocket of Tabitha's dress, her aunt had embroidered a sweetpea in her mum's own handwriting, because Carol had always called her sweetpea. You couldn't see it. But it was there all day.
The aesthetic was rooted in the nature they both love - coastline and mountains, wild and unhurried. Flowers from One Small Seed Flower Farm, locally grown and seasonal, beautifully arranged by Diana at Blondie Rose Floral Studio. The whole thing had a considered lightness to it, right down to the hand-painted shells Tabitha spent four months making as place cards, and returned to the beach afterwards.
We shot a mix of film and digital throughout. Tabitha's dress - the Auldyn gown by & For Love, pre-loved, bought for her by her mum, with a daisy-embroidered veil by AM Faulkner - was made for film. Tabitha and Jon were completely themselves all day. The moments were just there. What a privilege to be able to capture these for them.
